VEIL // FASCHINATOR: LO BOHEME
JEWELRY: BECKY EILLIS
LOCATION: SEATTLE, WA

I absolutely loved meeting and working with Chris & Stephanie. Stephanie's gown was the RADDEST wedding dress to photograph. It was made by Seattle designer Chrissy Wai-Ching. For their portrait shoot they took me to a nearby airfield. For their table center peaces, Chris brought all his really cool old cameras from home and they sat on these coffee burlap sacks from Portland // Seattle. I loved how they represented their love for good coffee and photography through all their wedding details. Thank you for being the artists that you are. Many blessings to you and your family.

WOW! These pictures are amazing. You did a great job, Jared Birt, because in real life these two are painfully ugly... JUST KIDDING! Will you submit them to be published in a bridal magazine? They are just great.

You know the wedding is going to be such a joy to be a part of when you walk into the rehearsal party at the NINES in Portland and the entire family of the bride and groom are there to welcome you as if they already know you. Rebekah and I felt just like we were part of their family. Morgan and Raegen are some very talented designers at NIKE. Their love for creative design and style is outstanding. They are proof that a wedding can be completely filled with great laughter,  no worries, no stress and still be intimate. As proof of her incredible designing abilites, Raegan added many personal  and handmade touches to her gown such as the winged cap-sleeved jacket. It was absolutely a piece of art.

Another thing I loved about their wedding was the bridal party and guests. It was so neat to encounter a group of people that were equally laid back as Morgan and Raegen and yet still experience the meaningful relationships that existed between them all. They were all mostly designers and from all over the country. Raegen and Morgan have this classic romantic chemistry about them that I love. They joke and laugh then turn on a little dramatic passion for the camera. Thank you Morgan and Raegen.

Okay, Okay I know I leave a comment on every post but truly Jared...You have got to be kidding me. The photography of this remarkable couple is so deep and breathtaking. I actually started crying when I read what you wrote about them. Raegen, your touches to your dress inspire me as a designer myself and the way you designed your wedding inspires me in this business!!!! I also thank you for giving my friends such a beautiful pallet;) Congrats!!!!

Jared, Thank you so much for capturing our wedding so beautifully. Part of what made the evening stress free was knowing what a wonderful photographer we had. Thank you also for your generous words. How great to work with someone who you genuinely like and respect. Morgan and I look forward to our future friendship as well. Thanks also to Austie for her kind comments. I familiar with your work as well and so I take your remarks regarding some of our wedding details as a great compliment!

Hair & Make-up: Austie Eckely

Veil: Unveiled Bridal Designs

Gown: Marisa

Venu: McMenamins

This was a phenomenal wedding of  absolute beauty and simplicity with every detail in place. Casey and Jake are amazing and wonderful people who show their personality and style in everything they do. Casey's gown was sophisticated and perfect for her. Her birdcage veil was custom made by the amazing Unveiled Bridal Designs and hair and make-up was done by the talented Austie Eckley. Jake had one of the best grooms men outfits I have seen: fitted / slim pants with a properly fitted shirt and vest. Creative socks and shoes from Urban Outfitters made it a complete outfit.

One of the things I loved most about their wedding was their "first look." I have seen it done so many times where the bride sneaks up behind the groom and taps him on the shoulder and he whips around in surprise. I don't know why but I've never really been a fan of this. I feel it doesn't build or mimic the same anticipation and excitement of seeing your bride walk down the aisle for the first time. After talking with Casey and finding out she had no preference in how they wanted to do their first look, I suggested that we go to this awesome field nearby and had Jake wait for her at one end of it as she walked towards him. He was able to watch her walk over this little grassy knoll and they met there in the field, just the two of them. To me, this emotion is much more enjoyable and natural. Jake was so overcome that he could literally not stand still by the time she was within 20 feet of him and their jubilation at seeing each other this way made for some amazing photographs. It really was the best first look ever because you could just feel the excitement, anticipation and TRUE LOVE they have for each other. I like to tell everyone that their wedding should be a complete reflection of who they are and to be creative in how they plan every detail.

Every once in a while something in life is dropped in front of you completely undeserved and unexpected. Those are some of the best moments in life. Traveling to Italy was one of those instances. Jon and Megan Henderson are clients from Washington, DC who made our trip possible. Our paths crossed completely by referral and even though we didn't meet them until we arrived in Italy, we felt like we had known them and their families forever. They were some of the most loving and welcoming people we have ever met and it made our time in Malcesine so memorable. The wedding was held at the castle in Malcesine and the reception was at very nice restaurant on the waterfront of Lago di Garda with an amazing mountain view and a classic sunset. It was so incredible and the day was beautiful...just an intimate and heartfelt gathering of close family and friends to celebrate John and Megan's marriage. My favorite part of the day was enjoying the reception dinner with them, not just as their photographer, but as a guest and new friend and hearing the toasts that went around the table. It was a genuine outpouring of the love shared by all.

We took so many photos on our trip and they cannot do Italy justice. It is so much more beautiful and surreal in person. Rebekah and I are so very thankful and blessed because of this experience. We will forever treasure it and will keep the perspective of the Italian way of life as we live ours. Congratulations Jon and Megan...we pray that the Lord will bless your marriage and keep you close to each other. Thanks again for a wonderful time and for hiring me to photograph your day in Italy. We hope to see you two again and to make it  back to Italy one day.

I never would expect perfect weather for a February wedding in Portland but Jonathan and Colsey's day was nothing but sunshine. Their wedding was held at a quiet little church in Sellwood and the reception was at the beautiful Waverley golf club (originally first opened in 1896). Jonathan & Cosley both have one of those great and contagious smiles that can just light up a room and those around them. Playful and interactive for their portrait session, the couple's real and passionate connection made for some artistic images. As a gift for their first dance, Jonathan surprised Colsey with a original song that he wrote on his guitar and then recorded. It was such a great song and a wonderful display of Jonathan's love for his bride and his gift for playing music.
