The Portland Trafficking Shelter & The Imago Dei Guest House
Last month I did a project for the art wall at our church Imago Dei Community in celebration of this season's advent. Portland is internationally known as a hub of sex-trafficking and labor trafficking. These images represent the dark, fearful and enslaved world that comes from human trafficking. The candle lit house represents hope and a way out by means of the guest house. It also represents a puzzle and how you and your community can participate. The Imago Guest House was established this fall when the City of Portland asked our community to provide a safe place for those transitioning from being illegally enslaved to being free persons again. The money that we saved by spending less on Christmas each year(Advent Conspiracy) has allowed a safe place to stay for those who've been enslaved in Portland. For more information visit portlandchristmasgift.org and sctnow.org To view the art in person go to 1302 SE Ankeny ST, Portland on Sunday's 9am, 11am 5pm

I LOVE THIS
(11.02.10 @ 05:30 PM)Nona - my great, great girlfriend. Tough as nails, sweet as pie. I owe her a steak dinner.
(11.05.10 @ 03:03 PM)Oh my gosh this is amazing.... I loved her the moment I met her!!!
(11.17.10 @ 07:28 PM)Its digital shot. But I love film
(02.25.11 @ 10:06 PM)It's nice to be able to mix up your way of creating images and
being inspired. A lot of the time my images are sitting in my head like an idea
that I need to make. I then go seek them out by driving around, biking,
scouting and planning out timing/details of all involved. The other half of the
time they are captured by spontaneity and simply just keeping my eyes open in
different environments. For me, both ways are fulfilling and rewarding. It
keeps the adventure and thrills moving forward. So if your ways of
dealing/creating is getting a little to mechanical or not mechanical enough,
then switch it up a bit. See what you can do under some new constrains or off
the hip.
This photo was taken at random while hanging out the back of a jeep and driving down the exit ramp at the Portland airport.
