I took this portrait while shooting for Warner Pacific last
week. This photo had nothing to do with the purpose of the shoot other than my
intent to always take portraits wherever I go for personal work. It's always
nice to have your mind focused on one-two tasks while working but to then be
thinking " how can I use this as personal work also"? Its a responsibility to yourself and something I will continue to do.
Join me in attending the Imago Dei Arts Forum on Saturday March 5th at 6:30pm. 1302 SE Ankeny, Portland
Imago Dei will be hosting an Arts Forum titled The Creative Process on Saturday, March 5th to encourage artists to continue on in the pursuit of their own creativity and art and to give them some tangible handles by which to do that. We want to encourage an environment in which relationships, rapports and connections can be established between artists which may help us learn to live and grow in what it means to abide abundantly and unabashedly in our expression of God's creative image.
The Creative Process Arts Forum will involve a panel discussion
among six artists with a focus on the creative process behind their latest or
current project. The function of this forum is not to showcase your best work,
but to come vulnerable and walk through the reality of the challenges we each
experience as we create. Each
artist will be representing a different artistic medium, as well as a different
artistic approach to the creative process. We hope to see a wide range of artistic expression so that
we may glean from a multitude of experience.
Lastly, we will have a first hand look at the art of roasting thanks to Coava Roastery and Coffee Bar (1300 SE Grand Ave) who will be brewing all the coffee for the evening. Of all the coffee shops in Portland, Coava takes the art of roasting, brewing, and pouring coffee to a new level. We will be graced by the presence of two of their baristas for the evening, to serve coffee and showcase some of their very own revolutionary equipment.
Here are the presenters for the forum.
* Brian & Amy Hall :: music producer/engineer/musician
* Ian Mcneil :: Photographer
* Jessie Tillson :: Fashion Artist
* Kari Dean :: Painter
* Neisha Weiseth :: Writer/Blogger
* Sebastian Rogers :: music producer/engineer/musician
* Catherine Feeny :: singer/songwriter
* Devin Chapman :: Barista
Living in Portland I sometimes feel just like another fish in the sea in terms of being a photographer/artist. There are plenty of us to go around which is very cool. It's what makes this small town the place that it is though. It keeps me constantly craving and digging to find my little spot in a creative world. Yes it's hard and can be frustrating sometimes but I continue to shoot and work on projects simply because I love to.
Here is a preview to a cool film coming out soon called Press Pause Play about fear, hope and digital culture.
This month I have been working in collaboration with MARAH CREATIVE on the photography content for a new website for
WARNER PACIFIC
COLLAGE. They are located in SE Portland and the students that attend there are
going to be used for the main photography part on the website. More to come on
this project...

Looks good Jared. I cannot wait to see how they all turn out, it's going to be impressive.
(02.24.11 @ 12:10 PM)Great shot. I like how tough she looks while still "smiling" with her eyes. Can't wait to see the rest of the shots you took.

This is our new dog ZEPHYR aka Zev or Zef which in Hebrew means "
Wolf " Now he is not all wolf but we think he is a wolf hybrid and husky. We
got him in Southern Oregon from a man who got him from a shelter place. He is One year old and adjusting very well to our house. He is a lover and will lick
your face off. He loves to play and is mostly a very normal pup. Inside he is
very chill and doesn't bark or howl. Many of you know that we had to put down
our last dog Dakoda because he had a very rare and untreatable condition that
made him stop eating all together. It was very sad but the best thing to do. We
debated getting another dog right away or waiting a while until we could get a
6 week old husky pup. Well, when we found Zephyr and I couldn't say no.
ZEF was definitely sent to you by God - you and Zef are truly blessed.
